For starters, it is constructed from 3/16" wall 2" X 4" and 2" X 2" tubing. It has a 2,000 lb. spindle with grease zerks to make maintenance a breeze. Surely you've seen tire carriers that use a bolt and bushing for a hinge. They rust and become stiff rendering them useless. Our carrier rides on 2 tapered bearings that allow it to move freely. It is held tightly closed with a massive 2,000 lb. draw pull latch. Other companies resort to "T" handles that thread into the bumper to hold their carriers closed. Although they are less expensive, give Mother Nature a few months to work on those threads and iron oxide will have its way with your latch. A tire carrier doesn't do you much good if you can't open it. Our latches are zinc coated, fully adjustable, and have a rubber coated handle that will give you years of worry free use.
